Sage Abra HRMS 500 Software

Sage Abra 500 HRMS version 8.0 is the first release of the new Abra multi-database platform, supporting Microsoft SQL Server and MSDE database options.  It is also the first Abra product to adopt the new name “Sage Abra HRMS” as part of the overall Sage corporate re-branding.

Sage Abra 500 HRMS v8.0 joins Abra Suite v7.4 in the Abra product line. Now Abra offers SQL Server-based (Abra 500) and Visual FoxPro-based (Abra Suite) solution choices.  Many companies prefer or require that their business applications support SQL Server. Others do not have the IT infrastructure or need for SQL and prefer a non-SQL based solution.

Sage Abra 500 HRMS v8.0 includes these modules:
  • Abra HR
  • Abra Attendance
  • Abra Train
  • Abra Link
  • Abra ToolKit
Sage Abra 500 HRMS also includes new versions of:
  • Crystal Reports -- v10.
  • Abra Alerts -- v4.1.

A new version 8.0 of Abra Workforce Connections (Abra ESS and Abra Benefits Enrollment) has also been released for compatibility with Sage Abra 500 HRMS v8.0.

Benefits of Sage Abra 500 HRMS version 8.0

Sage Abra 500 HRMS retains the same familiar Abra Suite applications, user interface and navigation, while bringing to market a multi-tier architecture that supports SQL Server and MSDE databases.  Abra Suite users converting to Sage Abra 500 HRMS will see no apparent change to the Abra applications.  Business Partners need only learn one Abra user interface and one set of Abra applications.

  • Abra Suite customers on active SupportPlus plans can convert to Sage Abra 500 HRMS for a special one-time license fee.  The data conversion process from Abra Suite to Sage Abra 500 HRMS is straightforward and is facilitated with automated conversion tools.  The screens, processes, reports, navigation, etc. remain unchanged in Sage Abra 500 HRMS.  So there is no need for user re-training.
  • Sage Abra 500 HRMS offers security features that go above and beyond what Abra Suite currently provides.  (Such as integration with Windows Server security architecture, file-level security, built-in data encryption, and enhanced ability to block “back door” access to Sage Abra 500 HRMS data by users and software programs outside of Sage Abra 500 HRMS.) 
  • Sage Abra 500 HRMS has improved reliability, eliminates the need to reformat and re-index data, and provides more flexible and powerful back-up and restore capabilities.
  • Sage Abra 500 HRMS has improved scalability to grow as the user’s business grows, thanks to SQL Server’s scalability features.

What's New in Sage Abra HRMS v8.0

Sage Abra 500 HRMS retains the familiar screens, processes, reports, navigation, etc. found in Abra Suite v7.4.

  • Multiple Database Support - Sage Abra 500 HRMS may be installed with customer-supplied MS SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition. 
  • Sage Abra 500 HRMS fully integrates with Sage Payroll Services – Abra Edition. Sage Payroll Services is a Web-based payroll processing service that takes most of the payroll calculation and compliance management off of the customer.
  • A new HR process, Sage Payroll Services Sync, has been added to initiate the synchronization of HR and Attendance data between Sage Abra 500 HRMS and Sage Payroll Services.
  • Using Abra Workforce Connections v8.0 for employee self-service, employees can view their own pay history and Form W-4 data. The Sage Payroll Services Sync keeps this data synchronized between Sage Payroll Services and Sage Abra 500 HRMS.
  • Sage Common Desktop Information Center - Sage Abra 500 HRMS will display the new Sage Common Desktop when Sage Abra 500 HRMS is installed with other Sage products that also support the Common Desktop.
  • Sort order in lists - The order in which drop-down lists are displayed in Sage Abra 500 HRMS has been changed to alphabetical order by description.

Abra Alerts

Abra Alerts have been upgraded to version 4.1 for compatibility with Sage Abra 500 HRMS.  Enhancements in v4.1 include:

  • The Process Manager has a more graphic user interface that makes it easier to copy, paste, edit, and move steps in a process as well as upgrade process data fields to new database field formats.
  • The Query Agent has been enhanced to make Group-By queries easier to compose.
  • The email agent will now allow for HTML formatted messages to be sent when using SMTP protocol.

Crystal Reports

The Crystal Reports version 10 is included with Sage Abra 500 HRMS. Enhancements include:

  • Format Painter - Format reports in record speed by copying full formatting options between objects through a single click.
  • Funnel Chart - New chart type, similar to a pie chart, that provides an interesting way to display data that adds up to a 100% total.
  • Excel Export - More flexible options and greater control in exporting fully formatted reports to Microsoft Excel, including exporting all or some page headers/footers and choosing whether to display gridlines.

Abra Workforce Connections Version 8.0 Enhancements

A new version 8.0 of AWC has been released to support Sage Abra 500 HRMS v8.0 and integration with Sage Payroll Services – Abra Edition.  Enhancements include:

  • Viewing paycheck history - The Abra ESS employee Pay History page will show paycheck history from payrolls run in Sage Payroll Services. In addition, each paycheck will include accruals for sick, vacation, and personal as well as number of hours worked.
  • Viewing W-4 data - The Abra ESS employee W-4 page displays the following information: tax jurisdiction, filing status, number of exemptions, and additional withholding
